리사이클링 스토리(Recycling Story)전시는 재생과 재현에 대한 예술가들의 다양한 해석을 통해 현대미술의 새로운 담론을 제시하고, 관람자가 보다 쉽게 현대 시각예술에 접근할 수 있도록 기획된 국제 전시 프로젝트이다.
본 전시는 여러 문화권에서 활동하는 작가들이 참여하여, 단순한 물질의 재활용을 넘어 사유의 재생, 사고의 재현, 본질에 대한 탐구, 가치의 지속 가능성 등 예술가들의 정신세계를 폭넓은 표현 방식으로 풀어낸다.
지난 10년간 지속되어 온 「국제 리사이클링 스토리」는 물질적 재활용을 넘어, 동시대가 요구하는 ESG적 가치와 예술의 역할을 시각예술로 확장하며 앞으로의 예술 방향성을 모색해 왔다.
「공생의 순환- 국제 리사이클링 스토리 2026(Coexistence of Nature and Humanity)」는 이러한 축적된 흐름 위에서, 각 예술가 고유의 감각과 해석을 통해 현대미술에 대한 이해를 확장시키는 또 하나의 중요한 전환점이 되고자 한다.
본 전시의 목적은 첫째, 작가 개개인의 자율적인 표현을 바탕으로 다양한 작품 해석의 층위를 제시함으로써 관람자가 현대 시각예술을 보다 쉽게 이해할 수 있도록 돕는 데 있다. 둘째, 참여 작가들이 매해 공동의 주제를 각자의 방식으로 재해석하고 이를 작품으로 확장해 나가는
과정을 통해, 동시대의 예술가로 성장과 예술적 언어의 확장을 도모하는 데 있다.
특히 2026년 프로젝트는 그동안 축적된 국제리사이클링스토리의 성과를 기반 으로 독일 작가들과 함께하는 아트캠프(Art Camp) 형식을 도입하여 새로운 예술적 지평을 열고자 한다.
이는 단순한 전시를 넘어, 창작의 과정과 교류의 시간을 공유하는 실험적 협업 구조로 확장되는 시도이다.
Recycling Story is an international exhibition project designed to propose new discourses in contemporary art through diverse artistic interpretations of regeneration and representation, while offering audiences a more accessible way to engage with contemporary visual art. Bringing together artists from diverse cultural backgrounds, the exhibition goes beyond the simple recycling of materials. Through a wide range of artistic expressions, participating artists explore the regeneration of thought, the reinterpretation of ideas, the search for essence, and the sustainability of values, revealing their individual perspectives and inner worlds. Over the past ten years, International Recycling Story has expanded its focus beyond material recycling to address the evolving role of art in relation to contemporary ESG values. Through visual art, the project has continuously explored sustainability, coexistence, and possible directions for the future of artistic practice. Built upon this decade-long journey, Coexistence of Nature and Humanity - International Recycling Story 2026 seeks to become another meaningful turning point by broadening the understanding of contemporary art through the distinctive sensibilities and interpretations of each participating artist.
The exhibition has two main objectives. First, it aims to help audiences approach and understand contemporary visual art more easily by presenting multiple layers of interpretation based on each artist’s autonomous expression. Second, by inviting participating artists to reinterpret a shared theme each year and develop it through their own artistic language, the project encourages continued artistic growth and the expansion of individual creative practices.
In particular, the 2026 project introduces an Art Camp with German artists, building upon the achievements and international networks developed through the International Recycling Story project over the past decade. Moving beyond the conventional format of an exhibition, the Art Camp creates an experimental platform for collaboration in which artists share not only completed works, but also the processes of creation, dialogue, exchange, and artistic experience.
